Two 1944 Covers Bearing the 2 Pesos Clay Dark Colors Stamp

This printing is one of the rarest printings of the entire issue. It is unlisted in Scott. Both covers are from the Shepherd, Hithcock & Co correspondence. The first cover bears 9.15 pesos worth of stamps. Although the difference in color of the paper is barely noticeable. For contrast, the 15c and 5 pesos stamps are printed on the 1E3 paper, which is not as bright white as the clay paper.

This printing received postal use during no more than six months between the end of 1943 and the beginning of 1944. Notice "44" in the white area between the two stamps.

This cover has 4.05 pesos worth of stamps. A paper comparson is also possible for this cover: all three stamps are printed on clay paper.
