The 10c Red Type I is less common than the Type II. Color alone cannot be used to differentiate the types. In my ignorance, I use to automatically assume that the deep red stamps were all type I, but that is not the case. Type I is only found with the deeper red, but type II is found in this shade as well as the lighter shade, which in my opinion is caused by plate wear.
